如時 As Time

Exploring the Nature and Contemporaneity in Time

As Time
Exploring the Nature and Contemporaneity in Time
The way artists explore time is always fascinating. We can always see "nature" from such "time", the natural appearance, natural movements, natural grammar, and the breathing rhythm between nature and humans.
At the 2025 ART TAIPEI, the Moolah Multi-Art Space will present the theme of "As Time", showing that the word "nature" in contemporary times is no longer limited to thinking in the field of ecology, but more about how people observe things and understand behaviors, thereby positioning themselves and the ever-evolving relationship between the world.
The four artists invited this time are SU Wong-Shen, Éric Poitevin, HUANG Chien-Hua, and HOU Lien-Chin, within this framework, use their own fields of painting, photography, digital imaging, and sculpture to think about how humans can create themselves through the conditions given by nature. The aspects covered in their works not only respond to art history, but also point to cultural issues of contemporary concern. Here, "nature" has become a spirit and attitude that people adopt to cope with the times, while also showing that people are in a constantly changing contemporary context.
SU Wang-Shen's paintings have voices. In the shifting colors, we hear the dialogue of the times, which is like a play. The natural flow of words reflects people's daily life. It is a game, power, history, and deep emotions. Éric Poitevin is so pure and intuitive that by staying in the details of nature, people can trace back to the essence of photography and feel the endless delicate texture of life at the same time, which is both rational and imaginative, precise and casual. HUANG Chien-Hua's images always have a built-in grammar of the relationship between nature and community. Its tense is pictorial and digital. In the symbolic layout full of games and theatrical sense, the eyes looking back in the images clearly express the survival experience of contemporary people. The natural dynamics given by HOU Lien-Chin 's sculptures are like entering a long stream that continues to move forward. When the quality of stone is twisted into clouds and water, the blending and transformation of sometimes abstract and sometimes concrete, the aura contains light, air and body sense.
