The essence of my works aims to portray the shifting impressions of life on this island, encapsulated in the phrase "the feeling of passing through Taiwan." It captures a sense of familiarity and ease while journeying through this land.
This world is becoming faster, yet the journey reaching the destination still feels lengthy. I try to find meaning in it, slowing down my heart in the process, and savoring the many details in the surrounding world.
Art is the recreation of feelings and sensations extracted from the scenes of the real world. What I’ve been constantly doing is documenting the essence of Taiwan, the feeling it evokes. Whether driving or riding in a vehicle, on a highway or a railway, the landscapes along the road keep running past – forests, houses, groves, rivers. Man-made traces create a divide between civilization and nature, as if marking the boundary between the artificial and the natural. This horizontal boundary is like a stage, standing at the forefront feels like watching a theater where God orchestrates the natural performance of all things. In a particular moment, I slice and mark fragments of time to give them form.
In a person’s lifetime of eating, drinking, playing, and experiencing the ups and downs, memories are all that remain in the end. Many ordinary and mundane things are easily forgotten. Celebrating the beautiful aspects of life is built upon the foundation of our unremarkable daily routines. The journey to the destination is the true essence of our movement. So, I magnify this meaning into the destination itself, believing that no matter how simple or ordinary, slowly savoring things can reveal their true flavor. I wander through this island, together with everyone!
